With proper maintenance, you can get many years out of your pool and/or spa. However, at some point, a renovation may be necessary. The following are average guidelines for when to renovation each type of pool:
Concrete / Gunite Pools:
On average, these pools will need re-plastered (also called re-surfacing) every 10 years. Over time, the plaster can start to chip, crack and/or fade and stains can develop. The texture may also change over time and become very rough, which is another sign it may be time to re-plaster. This is an opportunity to give your pool a new look with new plaster and tile!

Vinyl Pools:
On average, vinyl pools will need the liner replaced every 10 to 15 years. Signs that it’s time for a replacement include tears, fading, leaking and/or loss of elasticity which can cause it to slip out of the liner frequently.
